Little sis and myself like to cook. We like to try different foods (within reason of course; you won’t find us trying a raw, still beating cobra’s heart)

…any way, a while back we were watching the Food Network show,”Throw Down With Bobby Flay”, and his challenge for that day was to come up with a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich. He did. How won the challenge.

However, we thought we could improve this so-called gourmet grilled cheese sandwich. And I think we have.

Here’s the recipe:

Portions are for one sandwich

  • 3 or 4 slices of Goat cheese
  • 3 or 4 slices of ‘not too thinly sliced’ pear
  • Artisan bread of your choice (if you like a hard crust then feel free, it’s your sandwich)
  • bacon
  • butter (real butter tastes best)

Butter two slices of bread. Place one slice of buttered bread in skillet or griddle butter side facing out. Layer your ingredients: cheese, bacon, pear, cheese. Place other slice of buttered bread on top. Grill/toast sandwich on both sides until cheese starts to melt and bread is toasted. It won’t take long.

Serve with chips and a Claussen pickle. Or whatever you like, after all, it’s your sandwich.
